This program's focus:

Socialization

Socialization; by far the most important aspect of puppyhood and our focus here at Furst Steps. We are here to make sure it is done right by introducing your puppy properly and positively to as many stimuli* as we can in and out of our facility, ensuring to go at your puppy's pace and making sure he/she is having fun!

Foundations

Working on foundations of training like following the hand, reinforcing good behavior, leash walking, establishing a marker, name association, building confidence, having fun while “working”, learning to earn, and more. We are building puppies who seek engagement from their handlers and leave distractions in the dust! This is not your typical obedience style training; we are working from the root up, and not skipping any steps in between.

Confident Puppies

This is not a program for focusing solely on teaching obedience commands. This is a program meant to build happy, engaging, and confident puppies who are secure in their surroundings and have experienced many things that will not scare or bother them as they grow! While we may be working on training “commands”, this is not the sole focus of this program- see our Private Lessons program for more info on obedience training.

What you do at home matters.
Parents and family members are just as important to teach as the puppy, so don’t worry, we don’t leave you out!
Puppies are most successful with consistency, patience, and practice. What you do at home to reinforce what your puppy learns at school determines your puppy’s success rate.
